How to use the Pinterest Follower Calculator

  1. 1

    Enter your current followers

Use the follower count on your Pinterest profile today. The example numbers in the form are placeholders to replace with yours.

  2. 2

    Choose how you grow

Pick a monthly growth percentage if your account grows in proportion to its size, or net new followers per month if you gain a steady number. Work out either from the last two or three months.

  3. 3

    Read the forecast

The chart and table show the count at the end of each month. Add a goal to see the month you reach it and the growth rate needed to get there within 12 months.

Follower growth on Pinterest is slow and steady for most accounts, which makes it hard to tell if you are on track. This calculator takes your current follower count and either a monthly growth percentage or a fixed number of new followers per month, then projects the next 12 months in a table and a bar chart.

Add a goal, such as 1,000 or 10,000 followers, and it tells you which month you would reach it at the current pace and what monthly growth you would need to hit it within a year. It is a projection of your own trend, not a prediction, so update it every month with real numbers.

How the projection works

With percentage growth, each month adds the rate to the previous month's total: followers next month = followers × (1 + rate ÷ 100). Small rates compound, so 5% a month is far more than 60% over a year. With net adds, each month simply adds the same number.

To find your own rate, take followers at the end of last month, subtract followers at the end of the month before, divide by the earlier figure and multiply by 100. Average two or three months to smooth out a single viral pin.

Followers are not the main Pinterest metric

Pinterest shows pins to people based on search and interests, not only to followers, so an account with few followers can still get a lot of traffic. Followers help most when you publish often, because new pins appear in their home feed. Track impressions and outbound clicks alongside followers with the engagement rate calculator.

Steady publishing of fresh pins is what tends to move the follower curve. The fresh pin planner and content calendar help you keep a pace you can sustain.

Pinterest Follower Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate my Pinterest follower growth rate?

Subtract last month's starting followers from this month's, divide by last month's starting followers and multiply by 100. Going from 800 to 860 followers is 60 ÷ 800 × 100 = 7.5% growth.

Should I use percentage growth or net new followers?

Use net new followers if you gain roughly the same number each month. Use a percentage if your gains rise as the account grows. When unsure, run both and treat the results as a range.

How long will it take to get 1,000 followers on Pinterest?

It depends entirely on your current pace. Enter your follower count, your recent monthly growth and a goal of 1,000, and the calculator shows the month you would reach it if that pace holds.

Can I see my follower history on Pinterest?

Pinterest Analytics shows follower data for business accounts over a limited period. Note your count on the first of each month in a spreadsheet so you always have a longer history to calculate from.

Why is the forecast so different from what happened?

Growth rarely stays constant. A viral pin, a change in posting frequency or seasonal interest can move it a lot. Re-run the forecast each month with your latest numbers.
