Each row becomes one step by step pin. The design settings above (colors, fonts, layout) apply to every row; blank cells stay blank.

    2. 2. Upload your file

    3. 3. Add the photos (optional)

Put each photo's file name in the photo column, like beach.jpg. Without that column, photos are used in the order you add them.

How to use the Step by Step Pin Maker

    1. 1

      Write the title and steps

Type a title that names the result, like "How to Repot a Houseplant". Add one step per line in the order people should follow them. Keep each step under about eight words.

    2. 2

      Add one photo per step

Drop in your process photos in order: the first photo goes with step 1, the second with step 2 and so on. Steps without a photo show a soft placeholder until you add one.

    3. 3

      Pick a layout and download

Choose zigzag, side by side or full-width photos, a style and a title font. Switch to the long 1000 × 2100 size for 5 or 6 steps, then download the PNG.

A step by step pin shows a process in order: a title on top, then a numbered photo for each stage with one line saying what happens. People save these because the pin itself is a quick reference, and they click through when they want the full detail, measurements or tips.

This maker stacks 2 to 6 steps under your title in a zigzag, side by side or full-width layout, numbers them for you and matches your photos to steps in the order you add them. Everything is drawn in your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Bulk mode makes one tutorial pin per row of a CSV or Excel file.

How to shoot photos for a tutorial pin

Shoot every step from the same angle and in the same light so the sequence reads as one story. Overhead shots work well for crafts, food and flat lays; a fixed side angle suits DIY and beauty. Fill the frame with the thing that changes between steps.

Each photo is cropped to a wide or square slot, so leave a little space around the action. If one step has no clear visual, a close-up of the tool or ingredient used in that step is better than a repeat of the previous photo.

    Standard or long pin?

A 1000 × 1500 pin fits up to four steps comfortably at phone size. For five or six steps, the long 1000 × 2100 option gives each photo enough height to read. Pinterest may crop very tall pins in the feed, so keep the title at the top where it is always visible. The pin size guide covers the ratios in detail.

For a process that needs more than six steps, split it across a carousel, or turn the key points into a checklist pin.

Step by Step Pin Maker FAQ

How many steps should a step by step pin have?

Between three and five is usually easiest to read on a phone. This maker accepts 2 to 6 steps. More than that makes each photo too small, so link to the full tutorial for the rest.

How do I match photos to steps?

Add your photos in the same order as your steps. The first photo you add goes with step 1. To change the order, remove photos and add them again in the order you want.

Do I need a photo for every step?

No. Steps without a photo show a soft placeholder so you can preview the layout. For the final pin, a real photo for each step looks far more trustworthy than placeholders.

What size is a long tutorial pin?

The long option here is 1000 × 2100 pixels, a 1:2.1 ratio. Pinterest recommends 2:3 for most pins and may crop taller images in the feed, so put the title at the top.

    Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The pin is drawn on a canvas in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I make many step by step pins at once from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Open Bulk mode, download the template and fill one row per tutorial with a title, Step 1 to Step 6 captions and the photo file names separated by semicolons. Upload the file and the photos, check the column matches, and every pin downloads in one ZIP using the layout, size and style you set above.
