How to use the Pinterest ROI Calculator

  1. 1

    Enter your Pinterest traffic

Copy monthly impressions and your outbound click rate from Pinterest Analytics. If you only know outbound clicks, divide them by impressions and multiply by 100 to get the rate.

  2. 2

Add what a visitor is worth

Use the conversion rate and order value from your shop or affiliate dashboard. For a blog with display ads, use your revenue per 1,000 sessions divided by 1,000 as the value and 100% as the conversion rate.

  3. 3

Add your costs and read the result

Include ad spend, scheduler or design tool subscriptions and the hours you spend each month. The ROI, profit and break-even conversion rate update as you type.

Pinterest is slow to start and long to pay off, so it is easy to lose track of whether the hours are worth it. This calculator turns the numbers you already have in Pinterest Analytics into money: outbound clicks, conversions, revenue and profit for a month, plus the return on every dollar and hour you put in.

It counts your time as a cost, because for most bloggers and shop owners time is the biggest investment. Set the hourly rate to what you could earn doing something else. Everything runs in your browser and your numbers are saved only on this device.

How Pinterest ROI is calculated

Outbound clicks = impressions × click rate. Conversions = clicks × conversion rate. Revenue = conversions × value per conversion. Cost = ad and tool spend + hours × hourly rate. ROI = (revenue − cost) ÷ cost × 100.

The break-even conversion rate is the rate at which revenue exactly equals cost. If your real conversion rate is above it, Pinterest is profitable; if it is below, you need more clicks, a better offer or less time per pin.

Ways to improve the result

Click rate is usually the cheapest number to move. Clear titles that promise a specific result, readable text on a phone and several fresh designs for each page all raise it. The pin SEO checker and the pin maker help with both.

Time is the other lever. Batch-create pins in one session and reuse a brand kit so each pin takes a minute rather than ten.

Pinterest ROI Calculator FAQ

What is a good ROI for Pinterest?

Any positive ROI means Pinterest earns more than it costs. Because pins keep sending traffic for months, a month that only breaks even often turns profitable later. Compare the result with your other channels using the same hourly rate.

Where do I find my outbound click rate?

In Pinterest Analytics, look at impressions and outbound clicks for the period. Divide outbound clicks by impressions and multiply by 100. Use outbound clicks, not pin clicks, because only outbound clicks reach your site.

How do I calculate ROI for a blog with display ads?

Set the conversion rate to 100% and use your earnings per visitor as the value per conversion. For example, a $25 RPM is $0.025 per session.

Should I count my own time?

Yes. Time is the main cost of organic Pinterest marketing. Counting it shows whether automating or outsourcing pin creation would pay off.

Is my data saved or uploaded?

Nothing is uploaded. The calculator runs in your browser and remembers your last inputs in local storage on this device only.
